Sitting Group dates for the autumn now available

Spanish Retreat Break

A Long Weekend of Relaxing Meditation, Autumn 2019

Following the success of our Spain Retreat in October (report below), we are aiming to run another relaxing retreat with meditation in the Spanish sunshine, away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. The date for this is not yet confirmed, but likely to be in October 2019.

We will organise a programme of mindful activities each day, starting with a guided meditation each morning, followed by a range of activities punctuated by further meditations through the day.

The aim is to provide a relaxed break and chance to unwind. All activities are strictly optional and will have plenty of free time in between them - you can do as many or few as you want.

Where in Spain?

Javea is a small town on the coast of the Costa Blanca, recognised by the World Health Organisation in 1981 as the healthiest place in the world to live! The town has managed to avoid high rise development, and remains centred around a maze of narrow, traffic free streets surrounding the fortified medieval church. It's only a short stroll into the old town from the house, so the bars, cafes, restaurants and shops are easily accessible.

The wider town comprises of two other area - a port with a fishing harbour and a beach area, with a large sandy shallow bay surrounded by lots of bars and restaurants.

The town lies between the impressive limestone mountain of Montgo, which shields the valley from the worst of any weather, in the unlikely event of rain, and the headlands of Cabo St Antonio and Cabo de la Nao.

About the house

The 'Finca' is a former farm house which sleeps 8 people in a mix of twin and double rooms - depending on numbers, you may need to share a twin room. The house has been in family for 30 years and is now upgraded to make a comfortable home with all the facilities you might need, including private swimming pool, a lemon & orange  tree, space for eating outdoors or inside,  & a barbecue, wood-fired pizza oven and paella cooker to keep us fed!

All activities will be optional - we will have a programme of relaxing activities and meditations through the day, starting with a meditation outside as the sun rises, with further meditations before lunch and in the evening. In addition, we'll arrange some outings and activities with a 'mindful' bent - walking, drawing and so forth, but these are optional and you are welcome to just kick your heels back if you prefer.

It is also possible to arrange a visit from a massage therapist for an additional fee, if you let us know in advance.

It is a short walk into town - where there are narrow, traffic free streets, lots of bars, cafes and restaurants, plus a museum in a former royal palace, an art gallery, so if you fancy a change of scene at any point, this is fine. The beach is a couple of miles away, but we can provide lifts to and fro as you require. It is a large sandy shallow bay and very pleasant for swimming, with watersports, diving etc possible. In addition, there is an unheated swimming pool at the house - the temperature varies between arctic and ‘hot bath’ depending on the time of year.

What's Included

  • Airport transfers to and from Alicante airport
  • Accomodation at the finca
  • All the instruction, teaching and yoga mats
  • Breakfast, lunch, some evening meals (it seems a shame not to also eat out a couple of times - there are some great restaurants!) and drinks. If you have any dietary requirements or drink preferences, let us know!

You will need to arrange your own flight to Alicante and back. If interested, please confer with us about flight details beforehand. Alicante is a busy airport with lots of flights from the UK, so is cheap to get to.
Spain - is sunny! Remember to bring a hat & wear sun cream when out and about. Mosquitos can be a nuisance after dark, so if troubled, bring some repellent!

The retreat will run from Friday  collection at Alicante Airport until Tuesday morning departure, giving you 4 nights and 3 full days break. The cost for this will be £350 per person, or £300 if sharing a room.

Please get in touch if you are interested - places are limited.
